Some more thoughts of an old man

Down the Hill and Across the Road

More thoughts of an old man

When running barefoot always come to a complete stop before crawling under a barbed wire fence
Use both hands when cutting buck brush with a scythe
A good day does not begin with a breakfast of pickled herring on cinnamon and raisin toast
Be careful running down long flights of stairs without a handrail
Don’t sleep in trees which have a lot of dead limbs
Pay your bills a day or so ahead of time
Try not to laugh while swallowing hot coffee
It is not necessary to peel blueberries
What do you see when your eyes are closed?
Some secrets are kept out of fear to the hurt of oneself
Being grumpy is not a becoming trait of old age
The air that I breathe God only lends it to me!
God loves you not because of who you are, but because of who He is
Don’t spill gravy in the small space between the range and the cabinet
Do not use a wooden spoon to eat a hamburger
Listen to the music that comes from your heart
Refrain from licking your arm pits in public
Some of the better conversations can be had with yourself
Be careful of the person who is always the hero in his stories
Give credit where credit is due
Watch your thoughts when you are angry
A slip of your foot may cause you to fall. The slip of your tongue may cause others to fall
Don’t wear the same pair of shoes two weeks in a row
It’s all right to laugh when someone falls but only after they are up and okay
Paper or plastic? Neither! I would like it in a metal bucket!
Do not use a sedimentary rock to drive a nail
Don’t leave your potato chip bags and candy wrappers in the front seat of your car
Work hard and play hard at the proper times
You are responsible for your actions
It’s not a good idea to rope a hog
Eat persimmons only after the first frost
Sitting on broken glass is hard on your clothing
Don’t handle dead animals just before going to bed
Don’t go to sleep sitting cross legged in a stranger’s driveway
Play scrabble with friends
If you meet a man carrying water in a burlap bag be friendly to him
Cast iron hats weigh on the mind
